The Cold War, from about 1945-1989, was a period of global conflict between two main superpowers: The United States and the Soviet Union. But within that larger conflict for power, ideology, and supremacy we see a number of fascinating smaller proxy battles, such as the Space Race, sports, fashion, alliances, and wars in Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan.
